My name is Megan Emery, and I have been tattooing in Austin, Texas for ten years. My love for tattoos began when I was a teenager. I managed to get my first professional tattoo at the age of fifteen.. (An armband with my zodiac sign in it) From then on, I was absolutely hooked. I spent many hours and sketch book paper dreaming up what my next tattoo would be. Tattooing, getting tattooed and drawing became the main focus of my life.
I started tattooing in 1999 at a street shop in downtown Austin. I spent the following five years working at various street shops. In 2004, I was given the opportunity to work at a custom shop called Gully Cat Tattoo, owned by my longtime friend Mike Terrell. (Thanks Mike!) In the five years that I worked at Gully Cat, I learned how to become a custom artist. I enjoy all types of tattooing, and I am especially drawn to strong and colorful imagery. I love doing custom work. The process of collaborating with a client and creating unique artwork is extremely rewarding.
